The Process

The branding is made to be illustrative and vibrant, drawing from the visual language of everyday chai spaces with its chainaks, hand-painted signage, and the warm, earthy tones of brewed tea, along with the intricately rich visual culture of desi women with gold accessories, bold banarsi cloths and zari embroidery. The identity leans into familiarity, celebrating the textures of South Asia and the beauty of the chai culture that brings people together, thousands of miles away from their native lands.

The design language borrows from the visual vocabulary of chai shops like chainaks, hand-drawn elements, gold accents, and textured surfaces and combines illustration with bold colours.

Illustrative motifs, earthy chai tones with spices like cinnamon and elaichi, and references to everyday tea objects were used to build a vibrant yet grounded visual system that reflects the social nature of chai.

Aunteas operates as both a tea shop and a cultural space in Germany, hosting community events and exhibitions for the South Asian diaspora.
